Some staffing changes at Barrington schools

Middle school woodshop teacher resigns

Posted

There will be some new faces walking the halls of Barrington schools this fall, including a number of new teachers.

Also, some very familiar faces will be missing.

At Barrington High School, longtime educator Judianne Point resigned at the end of the previous school year, and guidance counselor Patrick Sullivan took a job working as an assistant principal in the Cumberland school district. Samantha Stebenne, who had been teaching math at the high school for the past 11 years, has moved into the guidance office to fill the vacancy.

Barrington Superintendent of Schools Michael Messore said Ms. Stebenne actually completed an internship in the guidance office at the high school years ago.

Barrington Middle School is looking to fill two teaching vacancies. Cheryl DelSanto resigned her position as woodshop and STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Art Math) teacher at the school. Mr. Messore said Mrs. DelSanto left Barrington to take a job in a different school district.

The superintendent said Barrington officials have already posted the woodshop job opening and interviewed candidates and are moving into the final phase for finding a replacement for Mrs. DelSanto. Mr. Messore said the new hire would be in place by next week.

Mrs. DelSanto was well-liked at the middle school, where she taught for six years. Mr. Messore said Mrs. DelSanto further enhanced the woodshop and STEAM program at the middle school and also helped draw more young girls into that area of study.

Mr. Messore said the next woodshop and STEAM teacher will have opportunities to expand and enhance the program moving forward.

Barrington school officials are also looking to hire a new library assistant. The superintendent said Samani Villella resigned from the position earlier this year and officials have already started to search for her replacement. Mr. Messore said the library assistant position is an important one and has been in place for the 17 or 18 years.
