The Barrington Interfaith Clergy Association will host an interfaith Thanksgiving service on Monday, Nov. 20.

This year, during the service, Joyce Marabello from Tap-In (a non-profit organization that provides food, clothing, and household items to more than 17,000 East Bay residents every year) will share her experiences from the food pantry, describing food insecurity in local neighborhoods. 

Following the service, worshipers will come together as one large extended community to assemble holiday food bags to be distributed to Tap-In’s clients. 

"We ask everyone who attends to bring one or more of the following four items requested by Tap-In: scalloped potatoes, brownie mix, a 16-ounce canned ham, and canned yams," stated a press release. "We will have additional items for sale that evening in case people forget to bring some or are moved to be more generous and donate more."

The service will be held at Temple Habonim starting at 6:30 p.m. with a pizza dinner. (Please register for the dinner at www.templehabonim.org; due to a grant from a member of St. James Church, there is no charge for dinner, but attendance figures are needed so that organizers will know how much food to have.)

The interfaith worship service begins at 7 p.m., and the service project begins at 7:30.

The deadline to sign up for the dinner is Thursday, Nov. 16.

"Five of the local houses of worship have assembled a short interfaith service," stated a press release. "Everyone is encouraged to attend — no matter which house of worship you attend, or if you attend no house of worship at all. All are welcome."
