Two Barrington teens charged with marijuana possession

A Barrington police officer on traffic patrol spotted a vehicle parked in the middle of the road on Tall Pines Drive at 2:25 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 16.

As the officer approached the vehicle, three teenagers exited it and ran into some nearby woods. Officers began searching the abandoned vehicle, when a teenage girl walked up to the car and said she had parked the car in the middle of the road.

The girl said she had been driving earlier that night when she saw the three teenage boys walking along the side of the road. She recognized them and decided to offer them a ride. The girl said the boys then started smoking marijuana inside the car and would not stop even though she was asking them to. That's when she stopped the vehicle in the middle of Tall Pines Drive, turned off the car and then walked away.

During a search of the vehicle, police found a backpack that contained a small amount of marijuana. Police later tracked down the three teenagers — police charged two 16-year-old Barrington boys with possession of marijuana by a person under 18. Police also issued the 18-year-old Barrington male a civil summons for possession of marijuana.
