Vincenzo “Jimmy” Colardo, 97, of Barrington

Vincenzo “Jimmy” Colardo, 97, of Barrington, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Nancy (Ruggiero) Colardo.

The son of the late Giovanni and Antonetta (Cortellessa) Colardo, Jimmy was born in Barrington and was a lifelong resident.

Mr. Colardo worked at Hanson’s Men’s Clothing Store for many years before his retirement.

Jimmy was a communicant and former altar boy at Holy Angels Church. He was a member of the Barrington American Legion Post #8.

Mr. Colardo was a United States Army veteran serving during World War II.

Jimmy enjoyed reading, loved people, getting out every day and bumping into friends. He always had a smile for everyone, even those he didn’t know. More than anything he cherished his family and spending time with them.

Mr. Colardo was a co-founder of the Barrington Little League. A sports enthusiast, he enjoyed baseball, golfing, bowling and softball. He was a member of the Swansea Country Club Golf League.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Jeanette Vermilyea (Willis) of Coxsackie, NY and Angela Hawkins (Edward) of Warren; four grandchildren, Jeffrey (Kate), David (Heidi) Vermilyea, Jamie Hawkins and Christina (Matthew) McCartin and six great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Angelina Ravo, Edward and Guido Colardo.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 14, from the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home, 350 Willett Ave., Riverside, at 9:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Angels Church, 341 Maple Avenue, Barrington at 11 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Santa Maria del Campo Cemetery, Upland Way.

Calling hours are Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. Flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions in Jimmy’s memory to Holy Angels Church, 341 Maple Avenue, Barrington RI. 02806 would be deeply appreciated.
