Football players dating back to Bristol and Warren high schools will compete along with new grads

After Mt. Hope hosts Barrington for that annual grudge match Thursday morning, another rivalry game is scheduled Friday as some of the stars of

Bristol and Warren football past return to the field.

The annual Mt. Hope alumni football game is actually three games in one, scheduled for Friday night 6:30 - 8:30 on the high school football field. The evening begins with the women’s alumni game at 6:30, pitting former Bristol and Warren athletes of all ages against each other. There will be women in their late-40s playing against young ladies who just graduated, according to event organizer Mark Rhynard.

At 7:15, the first six classes of Mt. Hope (1994-2000) will take on their alumni of their predecessor schools. Bristol High School and Warren High School players — those who graduated before 1994 — will face players as young as 35. The game will feature the starting defense of the 1995 Division Champion Huskies and the entire offense from the 1999 Championship team.

“It’ll be kind of neat having all those guys back playing against the older guys,” My Reynard said.

The young guys are the last on the field. Those who have graduated from Mt. Hope in the past 15 years will be back on the field after a school-yard pick-em to divide the teams.

Admission costs $5 for anyone over 12. Tickets are available at the gate, and all proceeds benefit Mt. Hope High School athletics.
