The Bristol Republican Town Committee has elected new officers and delegates to the Rhode Island Republican State Central Committee, the party committee announced.

The executive officers and state party delegates will serve for the next two years. Elected to serve as executive officers include Thomas M. Carroll, chairman; William Sousa Grapentine, vice chairman; Paul Schmidt, recording secretary; and Antonio Avila, treasurer.

“I am beyond honored to once again be given the privilege of leading the Bristol GOP,” Mr. Carroll said in a release. “With a very strong core of dedicated and involved individuals on state, local, and national level leading our committee, our party will focus on growing the party and having a full slate of candidates come the 2018 election.”

The newly elected officers include former candidates for office, including Mr. Avila, who ran for state representative in District 69 last fall.

“What a great honor to continue staying involved in the party advocating for personal freedom, low taxes, and limited government,” Mr. Avila said.

The newly elected delegates to the Rhode Island Republican State Central Committee include Peter Hewett, William Sousa Grapentine and Paul Schmidt. Cynthia Bruneau, Antonio Avil, and recent town council candidate Marco Capaldi were elected as alternates. The delegates will take part in the State Republican re-organizational meeting on March 16, voting in the new slate of state party leadership.

Meetings for the Bristol Republican Town Committee are open to the public and held every first Monday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Burnside Building, 400 Hope St. The next meeting is scheduled for March 6.
