Florence Allen, 86, Bristol

Florence (Almeida) Allen, 86, of Bristol, died Sunday Oct. 23, 2016 at R.I. Hospital. She was the wife of Cecil Allen.

She was born in Bristol, a daughter of the late Antonio and Mary (Medeiros) Almeida. Florence was an assembler at R&J manufacturing for many years. She has been a Bristol resident all of her life. She was a member of the Christian Community Bible Church in Riverside. Mrs. Allen was an avid knitter, and enjoyed crocheting and making crafts. She loved to cook and spend time with her family.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her four sons, Robert Allen and his wife, Susan, of Warren, Donald “Ricky” Allen and his wife, Debbie, of Bristol, Roy and his wife, Kris, of Bristol, and Cecil “Jimmy” Allen Jr.  and his wife, Karen, of Atlanta Ga. She was the sister of Virgil Almeida and Arthur Almeida, both of Bristol, Rosaline Putt of Cheektowaga, NY, Catherine Bradley of New Jersey, Irene Garner of Illinois, and Evelyn Nappi of Bristol. She was the grandmother of 13, great-grandmother of 19, and the great- great grandmother of 2. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of many deceased brothers and sisters.

Her visiting hours will be held Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016, 4-7 p.m. in the Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, with a service at 7 p.m. Burial will be private.
