Students were evacuated from Guiteras School Wednesday afternoon after a plumbing issue forced them to empty the building.

The Bristol Warren Regional School District announced the evacuation on its Facebook page Wednesday afternoon, noting no one was injured, but the bathrooms are unable to be used. The students walked to Mt. Hope High School, from where they will be dismissed at the usual time.

The school district's Facebook post reads:

IMPORTANT GUITERAS SCHOOL:
This is an important announcement for all Guiteras School families. Due to a water/plumbing issue at the school, we are evacuating the students to Mt. Hope High School. All students are safe, we are unable to use bathrooms within the building.

Students will walk to Mt. Hope High School at approximately 12:45 pm with an escort from the Bristol Police Department. Students will be at the Mt. Hope High School gym. Dismissal will take place at the normal dismissal time. Buses will pick up children at Mt. Hope High School. Parents of pick up students are asked to pick up their children from the Mt. Hope High School gym (the back parking lot).

Parents who may be picking up their children are asked to report to the gym area and please be patient. No students will be released until we reach Mt. Hope High School.

There will be no COZ afer school program today.
