The Mt. Hope girls and boys basketball teams hosted Division III quarterfinals on Tuesday night. Junior guard Jenna Cimbron lead the girls past Tiverton 39-28. Cimbron scored a game high 22 points. When the Huskies needed a basket, it was Cimbron driving to the hoop either making the basket or drawing the foul. She scored 14 of the 22 from the foul line. Sara Godfrey scored 6, Thea Brum scored 4, Annee Kopecky scored 3 and Laura Marshall and Grace Moclair each netted 2.
Next up:
Tiverton was led by Haley Mendoza and Katie Phillips who scored ten points apiece. Aja Caldwell and Lauren Gamache scored three points each, and Ireland McGreavy added two.
The Lady Huskies will play in the Division III semifinals against Wheeler at St. Mary Academy Bay View at 6 p.m. on Thursday night.
Boys lose 60-56
Mt. Hope Huskies lost to Burrillville 60-56 in Division III quarterfinals. Broncos star Zach Lefebvre had a big night scoring 21 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Mt. Hope senior forward Marquis Jones-Murchisun lead the Huskies with 19 points. Cam Santerre and Jalen Kopecky each netted 14 points. Connor Padovich scored 5 and Jayson Pompey scored 4. The Huskies went 13-7 on the season, 11-6 in league play.
