Newly located fitness studio takes holistic approach

Fitness Fusion will hold its grand opening event Friday at its Metacom Avenue location

A fitness studio “for women, run by women” that aims to create a fitness community that is more than just going to the gym recently reopened its doors in a new location.

Fitness Fusion, now at 349 Metacom Ave., has been tailoring specific workout plans for clients — mostly, but not all, women — in Bristol for more than three years at Thames Street Landing. But after a dispute with her landlord, owner Danielle Rogers set out to find another location, taking out a small business loan and searching for six weeks before finding her new storefront on Metacom Avenue.

“I decided I had to keep this vibe going and I have to do it someplace else,” Ms. Rogers said of her decision to leave her previous location. “It took some time, but I found a goos space — and it has parking, which is rare in Bristol. When the signs point one direction…”

Fitness Fusion is more than a gym. Ms. Rogers aims to make it a comfortable space where clients can stop in after work and blow off steam with a TRX workout, a Power Yoga class or some spinyasa. It’s also a place to learn about nutrition, get some one-on-one consultation, or connect with other clients with similar goals or challenges.

“Everyone has different goals. We want to cater to all the individual goals,” Ms. Rogers said. “Some want upper body, so they do some TRX. Some want body shredding, so there’s a Gilian Michael workout. My number one goal is to improve the lives of everyone who walks in the studio.

And it’s not just about looking good. Fitness Fusion considers the entire body, and the day-to-day lives of their clients, aiming to improve their health athleticism not just in the gym, but in life in general.

“It’s functional therapy — get up and use your body,” Ms. Rogers said. “It’s about real-life movement, what makes sense. Not just sitting on a machine.”

The direct advice and personal work for clients is what Ms. Rogers says sets Fitness Fusion apart. The studio offers classes in TRX, Spin, Yoga, Spinyasa, Pilates and Barre, among other disciplines. Group classes and individual sessions are available. Prices vary and are available on the studio’s website, www.fitfusionri.com.

New and current studio members can get a taste of what Fitness Fusion has to offer while supporting the community during a grand opening benefit TRX class Friday, Oct. 7 at 6:30 p.m. For $12, participants will be treated to a high-energy TRX class with a DJ. Ms. Rogers is also raffling off three months of unlimited classes. All proceeds benefit the East Bay Food Pantry.
