Sweltering weather greets campers at Bristol sports complex

Hundreds of kids had all the fun they could handle when the summer recreation programs of Warren and Bristol had a field day competition Friday at the Bristol Town Beach sports complex next door to Colt State Park.

Kids played water and bucket games, competed in the high jump and frisbee throw and other events, and spent a good bit of time under the cold showers, doing their best to stay cool. They were also treated to a free hot dog lunch courtesy of their respective towns' recreation department.
