Roberta V. Ferreira, 86, Warren

Roberta V. (McKale) Ferreira, 86, of Warren, died Monday, Oct. 17, 2016 at Hope Hospice in Providence. She was the wife of the late Alfred W. “Flash” Ferreira. She was born in Warren a daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret (Cruz) McKale. 

Roberta was employed at Raytheon for more than 35 years before retiring. A lifelong Warren resident, she was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Bay Church.

Mrs. Ferreira enjoyed spending time with her family, children, grandchildren and pets. She loved to read, and go shopping at consignment shops and yard sales.

She is survived by her children, Alfred “Butch” Ferreira and his wife Betty, Thomas “TJ” Ferreira and his wife Lynda, Roberta “Robin” Matthews, and Candace “Candy” DeGrenier and her husband Kevin, all of Warren. She was the grandmother of Kari, Tommy, Samantha, Kayne, Michaela, Courtney and Casey. Mrs. Ferreira was the great-grandmother of Kaylee and Quentin, and the great- great grandmother of Wyatt. Also survived by her faithful dogs, Clyde and Cagney. She was the sister of the late Thomas McKale, Dorothy Freeman and Loretta Sarasin.

Her funeral service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Wampanoag Trail, East Providence. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are Thursday, 4-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to Hope Hospice, 1085 North Main St., Providence, R.I., 02904.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986.
