Speak-Out: Ban dogs; don’t nickel and dime residents

Regarding the proposed 35-cent landing fee for the ferry, the new council people, the first thing they do is suggest new fees. Mooring residency used to be $85, now it’s $105. Over time, once you establish a fee, you just NICKEL AND DIME THE RESIDENTS. What will happen; all the Bristol natives will be forced out of town because only the carpetbaggers will be able to afford to live here. The Bristol natives are all going to end up living in Warren.

Let’s talk about DISGUSTING DOG WALKERS. Let’s take Mt. Hope Farm. “Dogs are required to be on leash.” Haha, my wife and I walk there several times a month. Most dogs are not on a leash and, yes, dog waste is put in colorful plastic bags and the disgarded in the bushes along the walk. It reminds us of LaSalette — all the colorful bags on both sides of the walk just thrown by “responsible dog owners.” We walked there with little kids and on all occasions loose dogs came running up to the kids, scaring the kids. (Mt Hope Farm is a Jem — We won’t be visiting again). It’s more of a dog park now. The new director should walk there on a weekend morning to see the many violations. Also, Colt State Park has also been overrun with irresponsible dog owners with those little colorful bags everywhere, even tucked into the beautiful stone walls right near the barn office! I urge the new executive director at Mt. Hope Farm and the Gov. Gina Romondo to ban dogs from both of these beautiful parks. It is a shame that some dog owners disregard posted rules and ruin it for all.

I just want to say about that senator from Newport. He always talked about GLOBAL WARMING; now it’s a different story. He’s put his mind on something else now.
