Alice M. Cirillo, 92, Bristol

Mrs. Alice M. (Coyne) Cirillo, 92, formerly of Franklin Street, Bristol, died Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at St. Elizabeth’s Manor, 1 Dawn Hill Road, Bristol. She was the wife of the late Jerry M. Cirillo, who preceded her in death in July 1998. 

Born and raised in Fall River, Mass., she was a daughter of the late Michael H. and Martha Anne (Howe) Coyne. Alice was a secretary in the finance department of the Bristol Town Hall for 12 years, retiring in 1987. She previously worked at the Bristol County Medical Center for more than 10 years, and started her career teaching Kindergarten at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School for a few years.   

She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, a member of the Rosary and Altar Society and the Nocturnal Adoration Society, and was a past president and member of the former Legion of Mary for more than 15 years at the church. She was a member of the International Sunshine Society #183 of Bristol, member of the Benjamin Church Manor Tenants Association, the Mosaico CDC, where she served on the board for a few years, and a volunteer at the Herreshoff Marine Museum for a number of years. 
She is survived by two sons, Jerry M. Cirillo of Westwood, Mass., and Paul D. Cirillo (Jodie) of Saginaw, MI; three grandchildren, Nissa R. and Michael D. Cirillo, both of Saginaw, MI, and Thomas M. Cirillo of Nashville, Tenn. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and several sisters and a brother. 

Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol, Monday, July 31, 2017 at 10 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State St., Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visitation will be Monday morning only, 9-10 a.m.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once.
