Ascencao defeats Hunt for District 68 seat

Posted

Democrat Laufton Ascencao came out of the Tuesday midterm elections victorious, winning the District 68 General Assembly seat over Libertarian candidate William Hunt, Jr. by capturing 63.6% of the votes.

Mr. Ascencao’s success comes after months of campaigning, debating and canvassing throughout Bristol and Warren, knocking on doors and defeating fellow Democrat Andy Tyska by a near 2-1 margin in the September primary.

Hallmarks of Mr. Ascencao’s campaign have included his modest upbringing and hard-working mentality, experience in political activism, commitment to prioritizing environmentalism and determination to speak up for his constituents.

Mr. Ascencao will be replacing Democrat Kenneth Marshall in the District 68 seat.
