Bristol arrests include drunk driving, assault, drinking and urinating in public

Following is a summary of Bristol Police Department activity from Aug. 28 to Labor Day. During that time, the police made 12 arrests. Most were during the weekend and late at night.

Monday, Aug. 28

  • An officer dispersed a man found sleeping in the bushes at Independence Park on Thames Street at 10:17 a.m.
  • Officers were called to a neighbor dispute on Wood Street at 10:31 a.m.
  • A caller told police a man wearing a tank top and black backpack was standing in the road disrupting traffic at Hope Street and Asylum Road at 1:25 p.m. He was gone before officers arrived.
  • A man sitting on a stone wall at the corner of Hope Street and Pond Brook Lane at 1:56 p.m. was taken by EMS to Rhode Island Hospital.
  • Officers were called to the Mt. Hope Bridge at 6:11 p.m. for a report of a woman on a bicycle stopped on the bridge. It checked out fine; the woman had stopped to take pictures.

Tuesday, Aug. 29

  • An officer dispersed three people from the corner of High and State streets at 1:42 a.m.
  • Officers responded to talk to a man found sleeping behind the public bathrooms at the corner of Thames and Oliver streets at 3:27 p.m.
  • Officers were called to investigate a foul odor at the corner of Rock and State streets. An animal was found dead in a trap at 3:45 p.m. The tenant was advised to contact the landlord to have it removed.
  • Police were called to help an injured bird at Colt State Park at 6:46 p.m.
  • Officers were called to investigate a dog left inside a car at 6:55 p.m. at the Stop ‘n Shop parking lot. Since it was only 65 degrees outside, it was determined there was no problem.

Wednesday, Aug. 30

  • Officers and firefighters were called to a fire in a house on Washington Street at 12:22 a.m. It turned out to be a small fire in a pile of clothes in the bedroom that was quickly extinguished.
  • A breaking-and-entering was reported on Wood Street.
  • A resident on Narrows Road called to report someone camping across the street from her house.
  • Officers were called to Scott Lane at 5:02 p.m. because of a verbal argument with a child.
  • After officers were called to an argument between a man and a woman on Opechee Drive, Victoria L. Quintal, 23, of 19 Hanley Farm Road, Warren, was charged with simple assault and vandalism at 5:17 p.m. Later that night, Jason Galuppo, 31, of 42 Opechee Drive, was charged with disorderly conduct at the police station at 8:37 p.m.
  • A caller from Dawn Hill Road reported that stray cats had captured and injured a rabbit at 9:21 p.m. Police contacted DEM, which advised them to contact a wildlife rescue center.
  • Someone reported an individual driving around and yelling out of the vehicle window in the area of Wood Street and St. Elizabeth Street at 9:36 p.m.

Thursday, Aug. 31

  • At 9:35 a.m., a caller in the area of Michael Drive and Betsy Drive reported an injured coyote. It was gone when officers arrived.
  • A Union Street caller reported loud music coming from a neighbor’s garage at 9:31 p.m.
  • A large group was dispersed from the corner of Oliver and High streets at 10:37 p.m.
  • Konstantinos N. Hantzis, 20, of Middleton, Mass, was charged with underage possession of alcohol at 11:46 p.m. at the corner of High and Court streets.

Friday, Sept. 1

  • At 12:03 a.m., Garrett James McDonald, 21, of Scarborough, Maine, was charged with disorderly conduct-urinating in public, at the corner of State and Hope streets.
  • Christopher Emunson, 49, of 17 Harris Ave., Warren, was charged with a District Court warrant after a traffic stop on Metacom Avenue near the Warren line at 12:51 a.m.
  • Anteneh Mekonnen, 22, of Boston, was charged with disorderly conduct at 1:07 a.m. on Thames Street.
  • A resident from Peckham Place called police at 4:16 a.m. to request assistance with raccoons outside her home.
  • Jacqueline S. Vaughn, 41, of 15 Gorham Place, Bristol, was charged with domestic assault and domestic disorderly conduct at 10:47 a.m. at home.
  • A 16-year-old from Mt. Hope High School was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct at 12:12 p.m.
  • Michael Poissant, 44, of 8 Reservoir Ave., Bristol, was charged with a District Court warrant at 6:20 p.m. at the police station.
  • A caller reported a house party at 11:27 p.m. on Sefton Road.

Saturday, Sept. 2

  • Officers were called to a report of a man smashing bottles in the parking lot of the Shell station on Metacom Avenue at 1:01 a.m. They checked the area but were unable to find him.
  • Officers dispersed a large group from the beach area of Lower Ferry Road at 9:32 p.m.
  • A neighbor complained of a house party at 10:22 p.m. on Roosevelt Drive.
  • A group was dispersed from the Town Common at 10:22 p.m.
  • Someone complained of fireworks on Harborview Avenue at 11:48 p.m.

Sunday, Sept. 3

  • Ryan, M. McDermott, 21, of Wrentham, Mass., was charged with consumption of an alcoholic beverage in public at the corner of Bradford and High streets at 12:52 a.m.
  • A caller from Ryan Avenue complained of a house party at 11:06 p.m.
  • Matthew Giovatto, 21, of River Vale, N.J., was charged with vandalism and disorderly conduct after officers were called to Franklin Street at 11:48 p.m.
  • Alexander Renzi, 21, of Seekonk, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol and refusal to submit to a chemical test at 11:57 p.m. on Sherry Avenue.

Monday, Sept. 4

  • Officers dispersed seven people from the Town Common gazebo at 1:13 p.m.
  • Officers were called to disperse a large group in the back yard at High and Oliver streets at 1:29 a.m.
