Bristol police arrested alleged cocaine dealer

Posted

A Warwick man suspected of distributing cocaine throughout Bristol and elsewhere in Rhode Island was arrested by Bristol police last week following a months-long investigation by agencies here and across the state.

Jonathan Savinin, 40, faces charges of possession with intent to distribute Schedule I-V narcotics and possession of Schedule I-V narcotics. The arrest came following a joint investigation by Bristol police and their counterparts in Newport, Warwick, Central Falls, Cranston, East Providence and Pawtucket, as well as investigators in the federal Drug Enforcement Agency's Providence office. Bristol police said Mr. Savinin had been suspected of delivering narcotics in the East Bay area for some time.

As a result of the investigation, search warrants were granted for Mr. Savinon, his vehicle, and several properties throughout the state. Officers served search warrants in Warwick, Central Falls and Bristol, which led to the seizure of approximately $6,000 worth of cocaine and other narcotics. Cash, documents and drug paraphernalia were also seized.

Bristol police said the investigation is ongoing and more arrests may follow.
