The person who effectively holds the office of Town Clerk must be a storehouse of knowledge and facts. You would be surprised to know how often complicated problems impacting someone’s life, the public at large, or even the Town itself are resolved by information found in the head or at the fingertips of the Town Clerk.
Anyone can be trained to issue birth certificates, look-up deeds, or share ordinances on-line. These tasks are easy and routine.
True value lies in understanding when and why something was done, and where and how to find a record of it. Greater value is in knowing why it matters.
I spent a lifetime learning and understanding about Bristol, and have studied everything about it. I know Town records like the back of my hand, and put these to work every day. I challenge anyone to convince you they can do the same.
