Customers, officials wish BHOP a happy 40th
The landmark Bristol restaurant threw a party Monday to celebrate the anniversary
Scores of people filed into Bristol House of Pizza Monday afternoon and into the evening to help celebrate the restaurant’s 40th anniversary.
Local officials, including Town Administrator Steven Contente, Police Chief Josh Canario and Fire Chief Michael DeMello, along with members of the East Bay Chamber of Commerce, among others, joined in the festivities.
“I’m overwhelmed by this turnout,” said BHOP owner George Gatos, who with his wife, Tula, and son, Greg, helped orchestrate the gala event. “We were so happy to put on this celebration for our many loyal customers.”
Bristol House of Pizza is one of the oldest and longest serving family-owned businesses in the downtown Bristol area.
During the course of afternoon, members of East Bay Chamber of Commerce gathered with the Gatos family for a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Town Administrator Steven Contente also read a citation from the town marking the occasion. Everyone present enjoyed great appetizers and a piece of the special 40th anniversary cake.
