East Bay Lacrosse 7/8 Blue team defeats South County

The East Bay Girls Lacrosse 7/8 Blue team won the RIYLL State Championship on June 17, defeating South County 13-8.

Reilly Curran dominated on the draw, winning possession for East Bay throughout the entire game. She also scored three goals. East Bay's top scorer was Kate Robertson with five goals, while Charlotte McGarry had two goals and an assist. Julia Stanchina had a goal and an assist, Maya Salem and Violet Gagliano each scored a goal, and Amy LaBelle had an assist.

The defense was anchored by Paris Mashburn, Ali Jarret, Julia Comfort, Maeve Murphy and Sonya Pareek. Maddie Heinemann played well in goal, recording 7 saves.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
