Emily (Miranda) Barboza, 90, of Bristol, R.I., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, R.I. She was the beloved wife of the late Alfred Barboza, who died on May 19, 2004.
Born on Sept. 29, 1927, in Warren, R.I., she was the daughter of the late John Miranda and the late Helen (Oliviera) Miranda.
A resident of Bristol for the past 57 years, she previously lived in Warren. Emily worked for many years as an Assembler for Converse manufacturing before retiring.
She was an avid reader who always enjoyed visits to the local Dunkin Donuts shop in Bristol, and who most especially loved spending time with her family.
Emily was the loving mother of Cynthia “Cindy” Cavalieri and her husband, Anthony Cavalieri, of Bristol, R.I.; and the late Frederick Barboza; the late Thomas Barboza; and the late Bernadette (Barboza) Martino. She leaves several grandchildren, including Michael Cavalieri, Dominic Cavalieri, William Dallaire and Stephen Martino; several great-grandchildren, including Toni Cavalieri, Cynthia Correia, Nicole Cavalieri, Violet Cavalieri, and Vincent Cavalieri; and several great-great-grandchildren, including Maddox Barcelos and Sabrina Martino. Emily was the sister of Florence Lambert of Swansea, Mass., and leaves her niece, Roberta Duquette, of Somerset, Mass., and her nephew, Robert Lambert of Bristol, R.I.
A Memorial Mass for Emily was held on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018, at St. Mary's Church, 330 Wood St., Bristol, RI.
Burial was private.
