Frank P. Guarniere, 91, of Warren

Frank P. Guarniere, 91, of Warren, R.I., formerly of Somerset, Mass., passed away on June 18, 2018, at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Frank was born in Fall River, Mass., the son of the late Frank and Josephine (Melozzi) Guarniere. He is survived by his wife, Ellen (Weaver)Loring- Guarniere; his children, Donna Lee Cambio (Gregory), Lucille Santos (Joseph), and Michael Guarniere (Marcia), and his step-daughter, Lynn McCarron (Don). He was pre-deceased by his wife, Lena (DiSano) Guarniere; son, Edward B. Guarniere; granddaughter, Stella N. Guarniere; two brothers, Carmine and Joseph; and a sister, Mary Moquin. Frank also leaves 8 grandchildren; 1 step-grandson and 7 great-grandchildren who loved their Poppy/Vovo.

Frank was a World War II Army veteran, serving in Germany under General Patton during the Battle of the Bulge. Frank earned an associate degree from Springfield College. He worked for many years as a commercial printer before being employed as a clerk by the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement.

Over the years Frank enjoyed spending time with his family, greyhound racing, gardening, taking care of his lawn, ballroom dancing, playing “Spite and Malice,” and especially playing bocce.

His funeral service was held on Monday, June 25, 2018, from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME at ROSE E. SULLIVAN, Somerset, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Thomas More Church,  Somerset. Burial was in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Somerset. To leave a tribute or directions: www.waring-sullivan.com

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
