Hazel M. Archambault, 85, of Bristol

Mrs. Hazel M. (Card) Archambault, age 85, of Wood Street, Bristol, died on her birthday, Sunday, Feb. 3, 2019, at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, following an unexpected illness.  She was the wife of the late Robert “Archie” Archambault.  Born in Bristol and a lifelong resident, she was a daughter of the late Raymond A. and Hazel (Valley) Card. 

A graduate of Colt Memorial High School, Class of 1951, Hazel was a production line worker for the Raytheon Corporation in Portsmouth for several years, until retiring. She had previously worked as a waitress for 40 years for the Mark Yu Restaurant in Fall River, Mass. Following retirement from Raytheon, she went to work as a greeter at the Walmart Store at the Swansea Mall, retiring in 2017.

Hazel was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, Bristol, and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and doing needlepoint work and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

She is survived by two sons, Robert Archambault and Peter Archambault (Robin), of Bristol; three grandsons, Ryan, Dustin and Zachary Archambault; a granddaughter, Jody Hoffman ; and three great-grandchildren, Bella and Ruxin Archambault and A.J. Hoffman. She is also survived by two sisters, Arlene Beach and Gene Pappas. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Card. 

Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol, are Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019, at 9 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Wood St., Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours are Monday, Feb. 11, from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Looking Upwards, 438 East Main Road, P.O. A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
