Irene Ferreira, 90, of Bristol

Irene (Ferreira) Ferreira, 90, of Bristol, died Sunday, March 24, 2019, at St. Elizabeth Manor in Bristol.

She was the wife of the late John Ferreira.

Irene was born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Manuel Sousa Ferreira and Marie Almeida (Luciano) Ferreira.

She was employed at various manufacturers, including Taylor Box Co., Dixon Corp. and I Shalom, but was most happy being a homemaker and spending time with her family.

Irene has been a Bristol resident since 1945, coming from Fall River.

She was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Church.

Mrs. Ferreira was an avid reader. She enjoyed gardening, and her flower gardens. She also looked forward to her Saturday lunches with family and friends.

Mrs. Ferreira is survived by her children, John “Butch” Ferreira Jr. and his late wife Lois of Tiverton, R.I., and Carol Ann Cavalieri and her husband, Domenic, of Bristol. She was the sister of Laura Lopes and her husband, Richard, of Fall River.

Irene was the grandmother of Trisha and John Paul Cloutier, Ann Marie and Peter Donnelly, Jamie and Tiffany Cavalieri, Coral Ferreira, Lori Sanches and Cheryl Ferreira. She was also the great-grandmother of Lauren and Rachel Cloutier, Catherine and James Donnelly, Brody Cavalieri, and Justine Faria. Mrs. Ferreira was the great- great grandmother of Javien Nunez. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Irene was the sister of the late Manuel Ferreira, Joseph Ferreira, Francis Ferreira, Antonio Ferreira, Arthur Ferreira, Mary Benevides, Sarah Benavides and Deolinda Fernandes.

Her funeral will be held Saturday, March 30, 2019, at 9 a.m. from the SMITH FUNERAL and MEMORIAL SERVICES, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Church, 577 Wood St., Bristol.

Burial will follow in North Burial Ground, 1081 Hope St., Bristol, R.I.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are Saturday MORNING from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
