Joseph Faraone, 72, of Bristol

Joseph Faraone, 72, of Tupelo Street, Bristol, passed away on Oct. 9, 2018, at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Gail (Oliver) Faraone.   

Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Joseph and Clara (Correia) Faraone. He was the father of Kristin Faraone-Trexler, Amy Faraone and Seth Faraone; grandfather of Michael Trexler and Molly Trexler, and brother of Rena Salvas.

Mr. Faraone was a graduate of Colt Memorial High School and the owner of Five Star Video for 25 years.

His funeral services were held Oct. 13 from the George Lima Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Marinaldo Batista at St. Elizabeth’s Church. Liturgical readings were by Rena Salvas and Amy Faraone. The Prayer of the Faithful was read by Rita DeMello. The offertory gifts were presented by Michael Trexler, Molly Trexler and Kristin Faraone-Trexler. Burial followed in North Burial Ground. Serving as pallbearers were Seth Faraone, Michael Trexler, Ron Salvas, Don Farnsworth, Steve Arcello and Aaron Arcello.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
