Karen Lee Edler, 49, of Las Vegas

Karen is survived by her father, Alvin E. Edler of Bristol, R.I.; her mother, Barbara R. Edler of Las Vegas, Nev.,; and a step-mother, Nancy Edler. She also leaves a sister, Janice Edler Strippe, brother-in-law, David Strippe, brother, Thomas Thomas Edler, and her beloved cats.

Karen was born on March 20, 1968. She graduated from Bristol High School in 1986. She worked as a visual designer for Apex, Jordan Marsh, Macy’s, the Newport Naval Base, and stores in Las Vegas.

She loved spending time with her family and friends in Bristol, especially for the Fourth of July.

A memorial service will be held on June 30, 2018, at 10 a.m. at the North Burial Ground, Hope Street, Bristol.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
