Kickemuit Middle School’s Masquers will present the classic musical, “Bye Bye Birdie,” from Friday to Sunday, April 5 to 7, at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 3 p.m. on Sunday in the school auditorium, 525 Child St., Warren.
Inspired by the real-life story of Elvis Presley’s draft notice in March of 1958, an event which transfixed the whole country but especially the teens who idolized him, the musical chronicles a fictionalized version of the Elvis story, in which music business manager Albert Peterson and his long-time girlfriend and secretary have arranged for teen idol Conrad Birdie to bestow a goodbye kiss on Kim MacAfee, president of the local Conrad Birdie Fan Club, in the small town of Sweet Apple, Ohio.
It’s a timeless and comic play about parents and teens and finding true love.
Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. Children under 6 are free.
