My congratulations to Hunter Rodriguez for winning this year’s Bristol Fourth of July Button Contest.

My disappointment to the contest judges for accepting an illustration on the button, of our flag, that is incorrect.

According to proper flag etiquette, when the American flag is hung vertically, the field of blue will be to the observer’s left. The flag displayed on the button is to the observer’s right.

Again, my congratulations to Hunter Rodriguez.
