Manuel Baptista Enes, 64, of Bristol

Manuel Baptista Enes, 64, of Sullivan Lane passed away on Dec. 6, 2018, at his home, where he was lovingly cared for by his family. He was the husband of Teresa (Brito) Enes.

Born in Soajo, Portugal, he was the son of the late Antonio Fidalgo Enes and Teresa Fernandes (Baptista) Enes. In addition to his wife Teresa, he is survived by his children, Jason Enes of Bristol, Mark Enes and his wife Angelica Briones Enes of Fall River, and Lisa Buchannan of South Carolina; and grandchildren, Bella Rose Enes, Jaden Enes, Jeremy Markland and Rebecca Markland. He was the brother of Felicidade Abilheira of Attleboro, Alexandre Enes of Bristol and the late Antonio Enes. Manuel was the father of the late Manuel B. Enes, Jr.

Mr. Enes was a graduate of East Providence High School and employed as a baker at Batista Bakery before retiring after 43 years.

His funeral services were held Dec. 11, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Elizabeth’s Church. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
