Natalie Melo Sousa, 79, of Bristol

Natalie Melo Sousa, 79, of Hope Street, passed away on May 28, 2018, at Rhode Island Hospital.

Born in Bristol, she was the daughter of the late John Melo Sousa and Mary Sousa. She is survived by her sister, Olivia Coelho, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Joseph Sousa, John Sousa and Agnes Silvia.

Natalie attended school in Bristol and was employed by American Tourister for 29 years before retiring.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, June 2, at 9 a.m. at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood St. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. 

Calling hours are respectfully omitted.

Arrangements are with the George C. Lima Funeral Home.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
