Political statement: Involved in Bristol's quality of life

As a candidate for the Bristol Town Council, I’m disappointed that Andy Tyska, an incumbent on the council, will not also be a candidate. It was a surprise to me, that instead, he will be seeking his Democrat party’s nomination in a primary vote election for RI State Representative, District #68. We wish him well.

Mr. Tyska is certainly someone I had hoped to work with on the next town council. He has the same experienced business acumen (Bristol Marine) as I (former owner the Bristol-based Oliver St. Bakery & Deli) and a similar well-reasoned pragmatic approach to problem solving. The current Democrat slate of nominees for the Bristol Town Council has several progressive-minded candidates, aka, Democratic Socialists.

Like Mr. Tyska, I have a deep involvement in improving Bristol’s Quality of Life: Marina Expansion Project, Renewable Energy, Economic Development Commission, Harbor Commission AC, Resident Street Sign Program and a proposed Homestead Property Tax Exemption, just to name a few.

Patrick “Pat” M. McCarthy

Bristol

Mr. McCarthy is a Republican candidate for Bristol Town Council.
