Sarah Joy Medina, 35, of Bristol

Sarah Joy Medina, 35, of Evergreen Drive, East Providence, passed away on Feb. 1, 2018, at Rhode Island Hospital. 

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of Connie (Almeida) Silva and the late Anthony “Ruby” Medina.  In addition to her mother, she is survived by her stepfather, Michael Silva, and her children, Antonio Cruz and Jayden Cruz. She was the sister of Rebecca Medina, Matthew Silva, Nathan Medina and Samantha Medina; granddaughter of Gilbert and Madeline Almeida, and niece of Isaura Cabral. She was the aunt of Nolan Medina, Colby Babbitt and Jose Cardonas.

Sarah was a graduate of Barrington High School and was self employed as a CNA. 

Her funeral services were held Feb. 5 at Faith Christian Center, Seekonk, Mass.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
