Steven Moreira, 59, of Wilson, N.C., formerly of Bristol, passed away Saturday. Born in Providence and raised in Bristol, he was the son of the late Raymond Moreira, Jr. and Esther (Mathias) Moreira.

Steven Moreira, 59, of Wilson, N.C., formerly of Bristol, passed away Saturday. Born in Providence and raised in Bristol, he was the son of the late Raymond Moreira, Jr. and Esther (Mathias) Moreira.

Steven is survived by his daughter, Jessica Moreira of East Taunton, Mass., and fiancé, Jess Smith; sons, Kurt Decker and wife, Helana, of Tiverton, R.I., Joshua Moreira of Wilson and Patrick Skinner of Kenly, N.C.; granddaughter, Harper Lynn Decker of Tiverton, R.I.; sisters, Pamela Andreozzi and husband, Steve, of Fulton, Texas, Roxane Anania and husband, Angelo, of York, Pa., and Michelle Keech and husband, Michael, of Bristol, R.I.; and his brothers, Charles Francis of Warren, R.I., Raymond Moreira of Florida and Ronald Moreira and wife, Jennifer, of Wilson, N.C.

Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol, are Monday, Jan. 28, 2019, at 10 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood St., Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visitation will be Monday morning only from 9 to 10 a.m.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
