Local nonprofit serves the entire East Bay

Barrington TAPIN (Touch A Person In Need), Inc. is currently recruiting volunteers with knowledge and experience in these targeted skill areas:

• Information technology and telecomm

• Communications

• Public relations

• Income development

• Volunteer development/human resources

• Program management

TAPIN is seeking volunteers with skills in any of these areas to serve as team members who perform a wide variety of tasks and services that range from small to large. For those who would like to take on a larger role, some team leadership positions are also available.

Recently retired professionals or anyone taking a break from full-time work are encouraged to contact the local nonprofit. Volunteering at TAPIN provides an excellent opportunity to keep skills sharp, lend expertise, and give back to the community.

Every month, almost 1,000 East Bay residents in need use TAPIN’s free services to improve the quality of their lives with food, transportation to medical appointments, and other basic necessities. Every day, TAPIN needs kind and respectful volunteers to provide the administrative support that makes these services possible.

Please email techdirector@tapinri.org by Feb. 2 to find out more about volunteering with TAPIN.

Meet our staff
Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
