Thanks to everyone for making Bodacious Bee a success

On behalf of the Bristol Warren Education Foundation (BWEF), we would like to express our sincere gratitude for the support and generosity of the community. The 11th annual Bodacious Bee was a great success thanks to Jaffe Orthodontics and all the sponsors, attendees, and volunteers who help BWEF fulfill our mission of supporting educational excellence in the Bristol Warren Regional School District. The Bodacious Bee is our flagship fundraiser and as such is a critical event enabling us to continue funding grants in our district schools.

We are proud that the Bodacious Bee has grown steadily, and this year we raised $70,000 to fulfill another year of grants thanks to our sponsors, supporters, educators, parents, and the community at large. BWEF has funded nearly half a million dollars in grants since it was founded 12 years ago.

Over the most recent grant cycle, BWEF funded nearly $70,000 in grants including: One School, One Book; Generation Citizen; Nature’s Classroom; Science Olympiad; Philharmonic Link Up; Mt. Hope High School Bridge Program; RISD Museum Trip; Spanish Language Enrichment; Harvest Outdoor Learning; and more.

At this year's Bodacious Bee, six teachers were honored by the Mt. Hope High School Class of 2019. The seniors were asked to nominate a teacher who has made a lasting impact on their lives. The 2019 Star Teachers are Len Calandra (Colt Andrews), Susan Cardente (Kickemuit Middle School), Donna Celone (Rockwell), Vanessa Cronan (Guiteras), Joseph Koger (Mt. Hope High School) and Arlene Vachelli (Hugh Cole).

BWEF applauds our Star Teachers’ dedication and passion, and we are so thankful for all that our teachers give to the students of Bristol and Warren.

We are grateful to the volunteers on the Bodacious Bee Committee, as well as the BWEF board of directors, who give their time and energy, devoting many hours of hard work to this event. If you missed the Bee you can still get involved — join us on Sept. 28, 2019, for the Food Truck 5K/10K. If you would like to support our mission, join a committee, or make a donation, please visit bwedfoundation.org to learn more.

Thank you for your continued support.

Carly and Reuben Reich
