Veronica A. Black, 75, of Bristol

Veronica A. ( Barbosa) Black, 75, of Bristol, died Tuesday Oct. 3, 2017, at Rhode Island Hospital.

She was the wife of Elwood Black.

Veronica was born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Joseph and Aurora (Lima) Barbosa.

She was a homemaker, and has been a Bristol resident all of her life.

Mrs. Black was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Church.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her sons, Darryl Black and Darrin Black of Bristol, and her daughters, Denise Pineault of Somerset and Lori Alegria of Rehoboth.

She was the sister of Joseph Barbosa of Bristol and Aurora Aguiar of Bristol.
Mrs. Black was the grandmother of seven and great-grandmother of two. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
