After a 22-year drought the Ever-Ready Engine and Hose Co. won the coveted water battle at the 88th annual Bristol Firemen’s Muster on Sunday. The Ever-Readys hadn’t won the event since 1996.
The Dreadnaught Hook, Ladder and Hose Co. placed first overall.
The water battle featured it’s first female participant, Julia Vollaro of the Defiance team. She is the niece of long-time volunteer firefighter Paul Vollaro.
“She did very well, though the end result was not what she hoped for. Julia showed she has the stuff that battles are made of,” he posted to his Facebook page. “I congratulate the Ever-Ready team on a fine day, and all the teams involved," Mr. Vollaro said.
