Winifreda Busabos, 82, of Bristol

Mrs. Winifreda P. (Posadas) Busabos, age 82, of Mulberry Road, Bristol, died Friday, April 5, 2019, at R.I. Hospital, Providence, surrounded by her loving husband and family. She was the wife of Domingo U. Busabos, her husband of 57 years.

Born in San Carlos City, Pangasinan, Philippines, she was a daughter of the late Jose and Honorata (Ramos) Posadas. 

A resident of Bristol for 55 years, she lived in Florida for a few years after moving from the Philippines before settling in Bristol. Winifreda was an elementary teacher for 32 years for the Warren school system, teaching both second and third grades at Child Street School before retiring in 2001. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bristol, and a former member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society. 

In addition to her husband, she is survived by sisters, Milagros Palisoc, Concepcion Frias and Natividad Posadas, all of the Philippines. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, Lee P. Busabos, and a brother, Jose Posadas, Jr., and sisters, Cristeta Posadas and Adelina Beudisda.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, April 12, 2019, at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State St., Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
