BARRINGTON — A woman called police on Saturday, June 20 at about 7 p.m. after she saw what she thought was a drug deal taking place in front of her home on Martin Avenue. The call eventually led to the arrest of two 16-year-old Barrington boys — each was charged with a single count of possession of marijuana-first offense.

On June 20 at 6:52 p.m., the resident called police and told the dispatcher that she had just witnessed “possible drug activity” in front of her home.

She said there were five teenagers walking down the street who approached a white van that had stopped nearby. She said it appeared a drug deal had taken place between the men in the van and the teenagers.

Officers responded to the scene and later located the group of teenagers near the intersection of County Road and Federal Road. A search reportedly revealed that two of the teenagers had small amounts of marijuana. Police charged the boys.

Officials also searched the white van, but were unable to track it down. The resident said the van had ladders on top of it.

Many thanks to the resident who made the call. This is what is different about living in this town vs most other towns in RI. Many would have just turned a blind eye.

maybe, just maybe, unless their parents coddle them, these teens will learn that breaking the law hurts. And maybe, just maybe, at least one of them wont do it again and will become a productive member of society. Of course, with people decrying the police for doing their job, they probably wont learn anything and will be coddled by their parents and wind up being continued wastes of human life.

Yes being caught with a joint when you're 16 = "waste of a human life".. lol....I guess everyone I know who is in their 50's now, and productive citizens, are former "wastes of human life"...LOL so funny the "do as I say not as I did" mentality!

seriously? yes, i was a drunk and a stoner at 16, many of us were. And I really do wish someone had stopped me, because as I got older, and started doing things a little rougher, it took its toll, and I really didnt get started with my life until I was in my late 20s. And I had to go to jail for that to happen. it was my wake up call. If only I had gotten that wakeup call at 16, maybe I would have gotten an earlier start on life instead of being a "waste" for 10 years.
