Ironworker for Council 37, leaves family in Barrington
Leslie A. Watson, of Lottie Drive, Riverside, died peacefully on Monday, Oct. 19, 2009. He was the husband of Louise (Jordan) Watson.
Born in Barrington a son of the late Thomas and Augusta (Bailey) Watson, he lived most of his life in Riverside. He was an ironworker for Council 37 and worked at Carlson Corporation.
He was a member and 32nd Degree Mason. He was a member of St. Andrews Lodge No. 37 in Riverside, the Scottish Rite and Liberty Royal Arch and he belonged to Martha Washington Chapter OES. He had been an advisor to Loyalty Chapter Order of DeMolay and Rainbow Chapter No. 9 in Riverside.
He was a member of the Riverside Sportsman Club and a World War II Merchant Marine veteran.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Leslie “Butch” Watson of Riverside; a daughter, Sandra Gildea of Pawtucket; a brother, Edward Watson of Taunton; 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late Wilfred, Frederick and Evelyn Watson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Philip Hulitar Center, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904 would be appreciated. The funeral service was held on Friday at the Smith-Mason Funeral Home, 398 Willett Ave., Riverside. Burial with military honors will be in Forest Chapel Cemetery.
