Barrington considered best among girls, Hendricken in the boys
EAST BAY — The final regular season coaches’ poll has been released and there has been no change at the top as both the Barrington High School girls and Bishop Hendricken boys as the top teams around heading into the 2009 State Cross Country Championship Meet Sunday, Nov. 8, at Ponaganset High’s Covered Bridge Trail.
The Eagles and Hawks each were winners last weekend at Covered Bridge, the Eagles claiming their third consecutive Class B title while the Hawks their second Class A crown in a row. The LaSalle girls, the two-time defending state champs, won their Class A title last week and remain the most likely challenger to Barrington’s run at the state championship. The Rams garnered two first place votes to the seven received by the Eagles. Hendricken was the top choice on all of the coaches’ ballots in the boys’ voting.
The State Meet begins at 1:15 p.m. Sunday with the girls’ race followed an hour later, 2:15, by the boys’ portion of the event.
