(Fool)hardy ten from Prudence splash into bay
PRUDENCE ISLAND — Ten courageous Prudence Islanders braved 34 degree water, much colder air, and a bracing northwest wind for a noontime dash into the bay’s East Passage at noon on New Year’s Day.
As most places, the number of swimmers was down a bit from previous years. Many more islanders, having taken the traditional First Walk down from Farnham Farm, cheered them on from the Sand Point Dock and the beach.
From there is was back to the farm for pot luck dinner.
