Benny's announces closing dates for local stores

The sale is over, and the countdown begins. Benny's announced Friday morning that a sale that had every item in the store 40 percent off has now ended, and soon stores will be closing.

The store on Pawtucket Avenue in East Providence closed Wednesday, Sept. 27. The Bristol store will be closing Saturday, Oct. 7. Below is a full schedule of the store closings scheduled to date.

Benny's shocked many consumers by announcing three weeks ago that it will be ceasing operations and closing all stores. For the past week, the 40-percent-off sale brought large crowds to the stores, with customers finding many of the shelves picked clean.

Below is the statement from Benny's:

Here is an update (as of this morning) on the winding down operations at their 31 locations. As previously stated, the goal is to complete this process by the end of the 2017 calendar year. 

Closed: 

  • Wed., 9/27:  East Providence RI (Pawtucket Ave)

Announced to close: 

  • Sat., 9/30: Middleboro MA, Cranston RI (Park Ave only, Atwood Ave remains open)
  • Wed., 10/4: Danielson CT. (774 No. Main St.)
  • Fri., 10/6: Old Saybrook CT, Norwichtown CT, Killingly CT, (543 Wauregan Rd.), East Wareham MA, South Dartmouth MA
  • Sat., 10/7: Bristol RI, Middletown RI, Westerly RI, Warwick RI (West Shore Rd only, Warwick Ave remains open)

Finally, the remaining inventory is being consolidated across the stores that will remain open until further notice. Those locations/stores are ...
