Dorothy Flowers, 94, East Providence, Pawtucket

Dorothy Flowers, 94, died Friday at the Linn Health Center in East Providence where she had been a resident for 18 years. She was the wife of the late Woodrow W. Flowers. Born in Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late Perry and Lillian (Beardwood) Bedford, she was a Pawtucket resident most of her life.
Dorothy was a cashier for the former A&P in Pawtucket for 23 years and had also worked at the Memorial Hospital in Pawtucket for 10 years and then stayed on as a volunteer for many years. She was an active member of the Epworth Methodist Church in Pawtucket for many years serving as a member of the Choir and the Chancel Guild, the Worship Committee, the Woman’s Society and the special projects committee
She leaves as son Charles E. Flowers of Pawtucket, a daughter Shirley A. Drummond of East Providence, 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She also leaves a sister Lillian Houle of Attleboro. She was the sister of the late Edward, Kenneth, William Bedford, Ruth Buben, Alice Ponterelli and Barbara Catlow.
A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 19, at 8:45 a.m. from the Monahan Drabble Sherman Funeral Home 230 Waterman St., Providence with a service at 10 a.m. in the Epworth United Methodist Church, Newport Ave., Pawtucket. Burial will be in Swan Point Cemetery. Calling hours Friday, May 18, from 4-7 p.m. Donations in her memory may be made to Hasbro Children’s Hospital. condolences may be left at monahandrabblesherman.com.
