EAST PROVIDENCE — The visiting and half-neighbor Providence Country Day-St. Raphael Academy co-op squad had its way with host East Providence High School Thursday afternoon, April 12, in an early season Division III-Central boys’ lacrosse tilt, the Knights-Saints handing the Townies a 13-1 defeat.

PCD-St. Ray’s remained undefeated to start the year, improving to 4-0. East Providence, which dropped its league opener in Tiverton two nights earlier by a 10-6 count, slipped to 0-2.

The Saints-Knights spotted the Townies two goals before the Townies got on the board when Will Rider slipped a wrap-around shot passed PCD-St. Ray’s keeper Martin Silverman late in the first period. The Saints-Knights got that goal back just before the half expired and with East Providence about to go a man-down for a penalty.

PCD-St. Ray’s finished with a 29-10 shots on goal advantage. Silverman was credited with 9 saves. Cameron Seagrove made 16 stops in the East Providence net.

Rider had a hat-trick of goals (three) in the Townies’ loss to the Tigers on Tuesday evening, April 10. Nate Amaral, Owen Charron and Elijah Sandrowski had the other tallies. Seagrove made 9 saves.

East Providence next plays Classical on the road in Providence Tuesday night, April 17, at 5:30 p.m.
