EAST PROVIDENCE — City businessman and volunteer instructor Steve Cronin, who initiated a similar effort in Providence schools, recently brought East Providence High School students in his College, Career and Life Preparation class together with other area business people and Providence College students for an event, “A 21st Century Marketing Forum.”

More than 30 EPHS pupils and 15 marketing professionals from a diverse number of companies took part in the wide-ranging event.

Marketing strategists, graphic designers, data analysts, web site architects, social media advisors, offset, digital, and large format print managers from companies like Fidelity Investments, CVS Health, Signature Printing, Vector North America, MSCHF, Working Planet, Third Effect Marketing and Design, Nunez -The People’s Agency and others discussed numerous career possibilities related to ‘marketing’ and best marketing practices for creating, promoting, and exploiting student personal brands for lifetime success.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
