PORTSMOUTH — The East Providence High School baseball team recently picked up a 9-3 victory over host Portsmouth in a Division I encounter.

The Townies closed last week with a 3-5 record in the league, bunched in the middle of the pack of the D-I standings.

Seth Daly was the winning pitcher for the Townies. He finished his outing for E.P. with 6 and 2/3 innings and came one out away from a complete game due to the sophomore hitting the 110 pitch limit set by the league.

Andrew Rodriques had a two-run triple for the E.P. offense, while Ben Sears contributed a two-run double.

East Providence started play this week with a home game against Pilgrim on May 2. The Townies were next scheduled to play two road games, May 4 in Warwick at the Mickey Stevens Complex against Pilgrim at 4 p.m. and May 5 in Pawtucket at Vets Park in a non-league contest against St. Raphael at 3:30 p.m. E.P. is off until May 10 when the Townies head to Providence to face Moses Brown at 4 p.m.
