The East Providence High School Unified League volleyball team fell to Chariho, 2-1, in the Division IV playoff championship match held recently at the Delaney Gymnasium on the Johnson & Wales University Harborside Campus in Providence.

The Townies won the first game, 25-23, before dropping the next two by the scores of 17-25 and 23-25. East Providence nearly pulled off a stunning comeback in the final game, rallying from an 11-0 deficit at the start before succumbing in the end.

EPHS head coach Brandyn Chase praised his entire team while noting Cameron Chabot, Tyler Tewksbury, Suehaiti Riveira and Alexis Masse played particularly well in the title match. The rest the Townies included Kyle Soares, Tyler Soares and Alicia Pacheco.

The Unified League is operated in conjunction between the Rhode Island Interscholastic League and Rhode Island Special Olympics, which funds the program on a state-wide basis. It is the autumn sports option for special needs students and their general population peers.
