Several incidents take place in Rumford section

Posted

EAST PROVIDENCE — The Rumford section of the city, like most of the rest of East Providence, was contending with the remnants of winds associated with Tropical Storm Philippe Monday afternoon, Oct. 30.

North Broadway between Centre Street/Roger Williams Avenue and Greenwood Avenue was closed to traffic because a utility pole was teetering on collapse.

On Newport Avenue, a business' sign was close to falling over onto the southbound side of the busy roadway.

Running parallel, on Pawtucket Avenue at Roger Williams, the street light was out. Trees were also strewn about Wannamoisett Country Club on holes near Roger Williams Avenue.

And at the Agawam recreation area on Pawtucket Avenue a fallen tree limb snapped a portion of the outfield fence on the Fynn softball field and other branches fell near the playground.
