Mt. Hope blanks East Providence, 13-0

BRISTOL — The Mt. Hope High School football team shut out Division I East Providence, 13-0, in a non-league home game on Friday night. Running backs Josh Pompey and Dylan Martins led the Huskies. The pair ran for over 200 yards and each scored a touchdown in the tune up game.
But it was the stout Huskies defense that shined again. The Huskies D has held Division I opponents to just 6 points in six quarters of play. Mt. Hope defeated Divison I Rogers 28-6 last week in a two quarter injury fund game.

The physical Huskies defense made life tough on Townies quarterback Aaron Parsons. They sacked him five times and intercepted him once. Alex Tainsh and Jalen Kopecky-Morton had two sacks each and Keith Stephenson had one. Max Moskala had the interception. Ben Liams and Caden Cabral led the Huskies in tackles.
“We're very happy with the win, and while the kids have been playing well, we still have a lot of work to do to be competitive against the better teams in our division,” said Huskies head coach Thomas Del Santo Jr.
Next up:
The Huskies play their first league game against Mt. Pleasant on Friday night at 6:30 p.m. at Vendituoli Field
